World Championships
Brighton
2nd - 5th August 2001
|
Herewith the results from the
World HPV Championships, held in Brighton and Goodwood on August 2nd-5th
2001. Errors concerning rider nationalities, machine names, etc. are
entirely mine, and I will gladly change them - please drop me a message at
legs_larry@yahoo.com. Errors
in the actual numbers are almost certainly not mine, and all I can
do is apologise. We have now sorted the following:
- Rob English given due credit
in the Open Class for his 200m sprint performance in the K2
- Sense made out of Dennis
Adcock's use of two machines in the criterium
- Ymte Sijbrandij's time for
the 1km amended to a hand-timed 1:25 - much more reasonable than the original
- John Olson's name spelt
correctly
- some missing people in the
Open Class results found hiding in the Excel sheet - thanks to Paul London
for this one
- Chris Dodman's lap count
at Goodwood was way out. Changed according to Chris' testimony
that he was a lap ahead of Rainer Moosman.
- Dries Callebaut tells me
that Wouter Moerman (who I now find to be Belgian, not Dutch - sorry Wouter)
did not finish the race at Goodwood, and that the Mystery Number 111 is most
likely himself. This therefore makes it likely that the results originally
credited to Dries were those of Jean-Charles Gosselin. So that's what
I've put in...
- Hand timings for Barbara
van Overhagen and Edwin van Vugt have now been obtained. Thanks to
David Verbroekken for these, and sorry for the delay in getting them up,
but I've been on me hols...
I'm still lacking results for
Richard Everett and Andy Harrington in the road race
Major thanks are due, in no
particular order, to Anne Tweddle, Fiona Grove, Geoff Bird, gNick Green,
Phil Wray, Jon Coulson, Anne Coulson, Iain "Bread" James, Mike Burrows, Dave
Moreno, Stuart Dennison, Richard Ballantine, Carolyn Lowing, Steve Donaldson,
Sherri Donaldson, Tina Larrington, Rob Harris, Charlotte who helped with
the number spotting during the sprints, Martin Le Voi, the PA People, the
Timing Trio, Pete Cox, Andy Harrington, Nigel Sleigh, the entire Sidwell
family for making us all laugh like idiots during Saturday's dinner, the
medium-sized army of marshals, fence shifters and bike (un)loaders, anyone
else who helped out in any way and /or those whose names I may have forgotten.
Even vaster quantities of thanks
are due to Jonathan Woolrich. And last, but by no means least, big
hugs from the Author to Hannah Tweddle, who proved that children have a gut-level
and instinctive grasp of technology in demonstrating that she could run the
printer much better than an IT professional of more than fifteen years
standing.
Not thanks and b******* to Michael
Fish for being right about Thursday's weather and to Kees Bakker and Corinne
van Noordenne for being too fast for me in the first semi-final of the criterium...
Can I get off this wretched computer now?
